Pat Tillman Military Scholarship
- Award: Amount Varies - Award can be used to cover direct study-related expenses such as tuition, fees, books and room and board
- Must be a veteran or active service member, dependent of a service member, or survivor of a service member of any branch of the
U.S. Armed Forces wishing to start, finish, or further your education
- Have financial need
- Show educational and career ambitions as well as personal achievements
- Demonstrate service to others in the community and a desire to continue such service

Departmental and College Scholarships
- Departments and colleges within the
university administer their own
departmental scholarship programs.
Students who have chosen a major are
encouraged to contact the department
in their major areas of study
regarding scholarship opportunities.
Performance and Service Scholarships
- ROTC, art, music, chorus, band,
cheerleading,
and pom squad offer scholarships or
waivers.
Amounts vary and may include non-
resident
tuition awards. An audition or
portfolio showing
may be required. Contact the
appropriate
department or program for more
information.
Privately Funded Awards
- Privately funded awards, such as
alumni chapter scholarships, are
awarded to select students to
receive one-year awards based on
outstanding leadership and academic

Sumners Scholarship
- Priority Date: Not Applicable
- Entering freshmen enrolled in 12 hours
or more
each semester receive $3,000 the first
year and $2,000 each year thereafter,
with continued full-time enrollment
- Other undergraduate students enrolled
in 12
hours or more per semester and
graduate students
enrolled in 9 hours or more each
semester
receive $2,000 per academic year
- Part-time students may receive $100
per eligible
credit hour up to a maximum of $1,000
per semester for fall and spring
- Additional funding may be awarded for
the summer
terms if requested
- Must be a permanent resident of
Attala, Carrol,
Choctaw, Montgomery, or Webster
counties in Mississippi
- Must submit a Sumners application to
be approved
by the E.H. Sumners Foundation
- Applications must be submitted

Sumners Academic Excellence Scholarship
- Priority Date: Not Applicable
- Award: Sumners Scholarship Award plus an
additional $1,000 annual award
- Must be a permanent resident of
Attala, Carrol,
Choctaw, Montgomery, or Webster
counties in Mississippi
- Must be a current full-time sophomore,
junior,
senior, or graduate student with an
MSU GPA of 3.50 or higher
- Must submit a Sumners application to
be approved
by the E.H. Sumners Foundation
- Applications must be submitted
annually
Swalm Brookhaven Scholarship
- Priority Date: February 1
- Award: $10,000 over four years (or $2500 per
year, $1250 per semester) for 20
Brookhaven High graduates and 5
Brookhaven Academy graduates
- Must have a 3.0 or higher GPA upon
graduation from high school
- Must be an entering freshman enrolled
in 12 hours or more
- Must pursue a technical degree
- Financial need will be a consideration
- Recipients must complete and submit a
Swalm Brookhaven Scholarship
Application (PDF)
- Must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0
at MSU to remain eligible for the
continuation of funding
- This award can be forfeited if the
scholar changes to a non-technical
major, falls below the 3.0 GPA or
enrolls for less than 12 hours per
semester at MSU
Kelly Gene Cook Foundation Scholarships
- Priority Date: Not Applicable
- Be an entering freshman
- Have a 24 ACT and a scholarship GPA of
3.5
- Have financial need and academic
ability
The S-Stem Fellows Program
- Priority Date: Not Applicable
- Award: The scholarship will award
approximately 27
scholarships between $3,000 and $4,000
each year
to undergraduate and graduate
students
- Criteria: The S-Stem Fellows Scholarship is
available to
students who are enrolled in a degree
program in
Biological Sciences, Chemistry,
Computer
Science, Engineering, Mathematics or
Physics and
demonstrate a financial need
- Provide an official academic
transcript
- Provide two letters of recommendation
from current academic faculty,
administrators or teachers
- Provide an essay no greater than two
pages addressing interest in chosen
field of study and
also provide a personal resume
addressing school
and community activities and
employment history
within the last four years
- Submit completed packet to the Office of Admissions and Scholarships, P.O. Box 6334, MS State, MS 39762
Alumni Waiver
- Award: 50 percent of the out-of-state portion
of tuition will be waived and will
continue if the student maintains a
3.00 cumulative GPA. Cumulative GPA
is monitored for eligibility at the
end of each
fall semester.
- Applicant must be a son or daughter of
an alumnus or alumna who has earned a
minimum of 48 semester hours of
credit, or earned a
degree
from MSU
- Applicants who receive a non-resident
tuition scholarship will not
be a candidate for an
alumni waiver, except in the summer
- May be combined with 50% non-resident
tuition Access Grant
